Texans Draft Prospect Bryce Young Size Concerns Confirmed At NFL Scouting Combine?

Houston Texans quarterback prospect Bryce Young was listed as 5-foot-10 at NFL Scouting Combine Saturday morning.

The wait is finally over.

Bryce Young, the projected first quarterback to be taken during the 2023 NFL Draft in April, was listed at 5-foot-10, 204 pounds at the NFL Scouting Combine Saturday morning.

Despite his talents, Young's size was the lone negative that could hamper his draft stock. According to ESPN NFL Draft expert Todd McShay, scouts were "scared to death" to draft Young due to his stature. But the former Heisman winner had words for doubters worried about his size.

"I've been this size, respectfully, my whole life," Young said. "I know who I am, I know what I can do. For me, it's fair, everyone can speculate, ask me every question. I'm going to continue to control what I can control, keep working my hardest to put myself in this position. I'm confident in myself. I know what I can do."

Young will not throw at the combine. His talents were never a concern.

Young has established himself as the top-rated quarterback due to his arm strength. He finished his college career at Alabama throwing for 8,356 yards while completing 65.8 percent of his passes, to go along with 80 touchdowns and a dozen interceptions.

The Houston Texans are one of several teams who have met with Young. Unless another quarterback-needy team elects to trade for the No. 1 pick from the Chicago Bears, Young will likely be the Texans' starting quarterback come Week 1 of the 2023 campaign.

"I know Bryce is an outstanding leader from what I've seen, and an outstanding quarterback," coach DeMeco Ryans said. "It's no surprise the success that he's had. Just because of the makeup, the type of guy that he is. Wishing him the best moving forward."
