The Houston Texans and new coach DeMeco Ryans have gained momentum this offseason, especially after drafting C.J. Stroud and Will Anderson Jr.

For this momentum, PFF's latest power rankings keep Houston out of last place, slotting the Texans at No. 31 just ahead of Arizona.

"The Texans made some moderate but impactful moves in free agency. They added receiving options in Robert Woods, Dalton Schultz and Noah Brown, along with proven running backs in Devin Singletary and Mike Boone," PFF noted.

And those are just the off-season moves that don't include the stellar 2023 draft the team enjoyed.

The outlet further details how acquiring offensive lineman Shaq Mason, defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins and safety Jimmie Ward will elevate the team in 2023... especially after having the second-worst defense in the league last season.

Then there's the Stroud conversation, one that PFF drooled over.

"Stroud earned a 92.2 PFF grade in 2021, tying with Bryce Young, and he was the seventh-highest-graded player at the position this past season," the outlet concluded. "Stroud was charted as accurate on 68.2% of passes in 2022, the second-best rate in the country, and he led the nation with 28.2% of passes deemed “accurate-plus."

At Ohio State, Stroud earned Heisman finalist honors with 3,688 yards, 41 touchdowns and six interceptions last season. By all accounts, he's NFL-ready.

Between coaching staff changes and a roster overhaul, there will be a new-look Texans taking the field this fall. And for ranking Houston at No. 31, PFF had zero negative things to note for the team's profile.
