Pro Football Focus Believes Texans Should Draft This QB At No. 2

Due to the hiring of Bobby Slowik as offensive coordinator, Pro Football Focus believes the Houston Texans should draft quarterback prospect Will Levis at pick No. 2.

HOUSTON — The Houston Texans are reportedly planning to take a quarterback with their no. 2 overall pick during the 2023 NFL Draft.

The general public believes Houston will select either prospect C.J. Stroud or Bryce Young in late April. But according to Pro Football Focus' Mike Renner, he believes the hiring of Bobby Slowik will lead to the Texans drafting Kentucky's Will Levis with their top selection.

Slowik recently joined DeMeco Ryans' coaching staff as Houston's offensive coordinator on Feb. 12.

"The Will Levis connection makes too much sense," Renner said. "With Bobby Slowik coming over from San Francisco, Will Levis is coming from Kentucky, where he played under two offensive coordinators from the [Kyle] Shanahan tree. That connection makes too much sense."

Renner said he believes Young will be the first quarterback selected during the draft and mentioned that the Alabama prospect to the Texans is a realistic opportunity. But only if Houston is willing to trade up to No. 1 with the Chicago Bears.

Levis has established himself as arguably the third-best prospect at his position following a solid senior year at Kentucky. The Wildcats finished the 2022 campaign 7-6, with Levis completing 65.4 percent of his passes for 2,406 yards and 19 touchdowns.

After the selection of Levis, Renner had the Texans drafting TCU wide receiver prospect Quentin Johnston at No. 12.
