Texans Re-Sign Receiver Noah Brown Following Breakout Season

Noah Brown is back for another year with the Houston Texans as a depth receiver.

The Houston Texans are retaining one of their own.

Receiver Noah Brown agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the AFC South champions Monday evening, a source confirms with TexansDaily.com. The details of the contract have not been released as of this time.

Brown joined the Texans on a one-year deal following a five-year run with the Dallas Cowboys. In 10 games, the former Ohio State standout recorded 33 catches for 567 yards and two touchdowns. His best game came against the Bengals in Week 9 where he hauled in seven passes for 172 yards.

During the AFC Wild-Card Round against the Cleveland Browns, rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud tried to connect with Brown on a third-and-9 play to secure the first down. Brown collided with a pair of Cleveland defenders, leading to a Cameron Johnston punt.

Brown remained on the ground for several moments before eventually returning to the sidelines. He entered the medical tent for further evaluation. It would later be revealed he suffered a season-ending shoulder injury and would be placed on the injured reserve prior to the AFC Divisional Round.

Retaining Brown doesn't mean Houston won't add another receiver. Inconsistency in the slot between Brown, John Metchie III, and Xavier Hutchinson could lead to the Texans bringing in another option via free agency or the draft.

Should the Texans target a name in free agency, potential options include Cincinnati's Tyler Boyd, Washington's Curtis Samuel, Chicago's Darnell Mooney, and Carolina's D.J. Chark, among others.

Should Houston pivot toward the draft, expect an option to come off the board in the second round. Early prospects include Georgia's Ladd McConkey, Oregon's Troy Franklin, Washington's Ja'lynn Polk, North Carolina's Tez Walker, and USC's Brendan Rice, among others.

For his career, Brown has caught 115 passes for 1,547 yards and five touchdowns.
