Live In-Game Updates: Texans Fall To Titans 17-10

The Houston Texans are on the verge of losing their first AFC South contest in a divisional match against the Titans.

HOUSTON — The 1-4-1- Houston Texans will try and stay undefeated in the AFC South during a Week 8 contest against the 4-2 Tennessee Titans Sunday afternoon at NRG Stadium.

The Texans will be with second-year wide receiver Nico Collins, who is out due to a groin injury. With the loss of Collins, the Texans will rely upon the contributions of Phillip Dorsett and Tyron Johnson to help fill the void within the wide receiver corps.

Brandon Cooks, who was questionable with a wrist injury amid trade rumors, will suit up against the Titans. 

Rookie quarterback Malik Willis will make his first NFL start against the Texans. Willis will be replacing Ryan Tannehill under center, who is out due to an illness.

ODDS: The Texans are 2.5-point underdogs to the Titans.

THE FINAL WORD: Tyron Johnson Brings Additional Asset To Texans Amid Nico Collins' Absence:

"He plays with speed," offensive coordinator pep Hamilton said. "He is a guy who can run the route tree well. He possesses the one thing that you cannot coach, and that's speed."

1st Quarter:

The Titans received the ball first. On the second play of the game, All-Pro running back Derrick Henry rushed for 41 yards. A sack by Jerry Hughes pushed the Titans back by eight yards, but Titans' kicker Randy Bullock missed a 45-yard field goal.

Turnover on down

Rookie running back Dameon Pierce rushed for 17 yards to give the Texans two first downs on the drive. Mills threw an interception to cornerback Kristian Fulton when tight end Brevin Jordan was his target.

The Texans were able to get two solid stops on Henry, and Willis' short pass to tight end Chig Okonkwo did not convert to a first down. Punt

No gain for the Texans on their next offensive drive. When punting the ball, Tremon Smith forced a fumble on Robert Woods, which was recovered by running back Dare Ogunbowale. 

Despite having a second chance, the Texans still failed to move the ball on offense. Punt

2nd Quarter:

The Titans picked up a first down following a rushing attempt from running back Dontrell Hilliard. A few plays later, Willis threw his first interception of the game to defensive back Steven Nelson.

Led by Mills, the Texans recorded -13 yards on four plays. Kicker Ka'imi Fairbairn connected on a 43-yard attempt.

On 3rd and 2, Henry rushed for a 29-yard touchdown to put the Titans ahead 7-3 over the Texans. Henry currently has 105 rushing yards on a dozen attempts following the Titans' last drive.

Despite a 16-yard gain for Pierce on the first possession, the Texans continue to struggle on the offensive side of the ball. Punt.

Willis put together his best drive of the game by connecting on two out of his three pass attempts for 22 yards. His possession ended with a sack made by Roy Lopez. Punt

The Texans came out and replicated their offensive struggles from the first half. Another three and out for the Texans. Punt.

The Titans continued to kill the Texans with their rushing attack. But instead of running the ball Henry, the Titans began to utilize the talents of Dontrell Hilliard. Hilliard rushed for 51 yards amid the Titans' first possession of the half. Hilliard's contributions led to a one-yard touchdown by Henry.

Mills connected with tight end O.J. Howard for a 24-yard gain. Unfortunately, the Texans could not sustain the offensive momentum following Howard's catch. Punt.

The Titans recorded 81 yards on a dozen plays during their latest offensive drive. Tennessee ended their offensive possession with a 29-yard field goal attempt.
