Wednesday Injury Report: Secondary in Shambles

Three cornerbacks and one safety sit out the day's prep for the upcoming matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals.

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Titans’ scout team offense likely did not throw a lot of passes during Wednesday’s practice. Typically, the day is devoted to first and second down, which means a heavy emphasis on run plays.

When that unit did put the ball in the air, though, it likely faced little resistance.

Cornerbacks Johnathan Joseph (pictured), Kristian Fulton and Tye Smith, as well as safety Dane Cruikshank, were among the seven players who sat out the day’s workout. Only eight players are listed on the official NFL injury report.

This week’s opponent, the Cincinnati Bengals, are 13th in the NFL with an average of 262.3 yards per game and 14th in completion percentage at 66.7.

“Focus on first and second down, ball disruption, ball security,” coach Mike Vrabel said of Wednesday’s practice plan. “That's what you try to do each and every week after a win or a loss, you try to make the corrections and continue to try to get better and figure out who you have, who you’re going to have for the game, and what you need to stop on the other side of the ball.”

A week ago, three players did not participate in Wednesday’s workout. Two of the three practiced Thursday and played in the game, a loss to Pittsburgh.

Regardless of how things play out this week, the secondary might get a boost. Cornerback Adoreé Jackson is in his second week since being designated to return from injured reserve and could be added to the active roster prior to Sunday.
