Torrey Smith: Community work, inspiration from Elijah Cummings

Retired Super Bowl champion Torrey Smith has devoted his time after football to helping the local Baltimore community, imparting lessons learned from an internship with the late Elijah Cummings.

Torrey Smith didn't grow up in Baltimore, but feels strong ties to the community where he was drafted and spent the first years of his adulthood. Smith interned with longtime Congressman Elijah Cummings, who was devoted to serving the people of Baltimore. Like Cummings, Smith believes that he can contribute to the community through a local approach. He is currently helping to revamp an unused recreation center and provide food for families during the COVID-19 crisis.
