CBC mistakes Michael Phelps for Ryan Lochte

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, CBC, had a drastically different call of Michael Phelps’s dominant gold-medal-winning performance in the men’s 200 IM on Thursday night than NBC in America did.
CBC’s Elliotte Friedman thought Michael Phelps was Ryan Lochte the whole time.
As Phelps came down the stretch, the broadcasters got very excited over Lochte’s 13th medal.
“Saving the best for last! Finally, he’s going to do it! Ryan Lochte is going to beat Michael Phelps!” the broadcasters exclaimed. As soon as Phelps popped up out of the water, they realized what they had just done.

Afterward, Friedman apologized.
Phelps has another scheduled race, just 20 minutes after taking gold in the IM, so these CBC broadcasters had better make sure they know what the American looks like for that one.
