Josh Allen On Becoming 'a Little Softer' Since Welcoming Baby Girl With Hailee Steinfeld

Josh Allen is in his girl dad era and recently shared how welcoming his daughter has made him a "little softer."

The Buffalo Bills quarterback appeared on ESPN's "The Pat McAfee Show" on Monday, and he discussed how welcoming his daughter with his wife, Hailee Steinfeld, has changed him. McAfee brought up his speech from his mother's charity event last week that went viral, where Allen got emotional talking about his daughter and fatherhood.

He responded that, especially since welcoming a daughter first, he's become a "little softer" and that it makes your heart grow bigger. The Bills quarterback added that being a father has changed his perspective, and things in the world seem to matter a little less.

When McAfee asked him how being a father will impact him on the field, Allen explained that it helps him hear people out and navigate differing opinions. He added that he strives to be the best dad, husband, and teammate he can be as he continues to strive for greatness in all areas of his life.

The couple got married on May 31, 2025, and welcomed their daughter in April 2026.

The "Sinners" actress has been letting fans in on their parenthood journey via her Substack newsletter, Beau Society. She shared snippets of her first Mother's Day on Instagram, which featured photos of her holding their daughter's hand and enjoying brunch with her loved ones.

While the exact birthdate of their daughter hasn't been made public, Steinfeld shared that they named their daughter, Harper Haize Allen.

Besides opening up about his fatherhood journey, the Bills quarterback discussed the changes that are coming to the team ahead of the 2026-2027 NFL season.

Allen will begin his ninth season in the league with new uniforms, a head coach, and a new stadium. The Bills teased new nickel-colored jerseys; Joe Brady will be leading the team as the new head coach after serving as the team's offensive coordinator from 2024 to 2025, and their brand-new, $2.2 billion Highmark Stadium officially opened last week.

The Bills' first home game in the regular season will be against the Detroit Lions on Sept. 17 at 8:15 p.m. ET.
