Tampa Bay Buccaneers second-year wide receiver Emeka Egbuka was forced from today's practice with an apparent lower-body injury, which caused him to limp off the field. While he did not return to practice, he did stick around on the sideline, which has led most to the conclusion that this injury is not overly serious. Nevertheless, this is a situation worth monitoring until we know for sure.

Even if this injury is not overly serious, it's extremely unlikely we see him on the field in Friday's preseason game. There was a chance that he wasn't playing in that game even if fully healthy anyway, so now it looks like there is no chance he's out there. Hopefully, Egbuka is out there and looking healthy when the Bucs return to practice at the start of next week. It would relieve a lot of stress from fantasy owners.

Fantasy Impact

WR Emeka Egbuka, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

We do not expect this injury to put him in any danger of missing Week 1, but we will still be monitoring Egbuka's practice status until he is a full go. As of now, this will not impact how we are approaching drafts at all.

However, if this were to turn out to be more serious than we are anticipating, it would immediately spike the draft stock of Jalen McMillan. Chris Godwin would get a boost as well, but McMillan would see the most significant jump in value.

WR Jalen McMillan, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

An injury to Egbuka would open the door for McMillan to hold weekly value during Egbuka's absence. Despite it being a very small sample size, let's not forget that once McMillan returned from his neck injury late last season, he was the better fantasy option than Egbuka. We don't expect that to hold true throughout 2026, but it's also not something we can just ignore.

WR Chris Godwin Jr, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Egbuka missing time would give Godwin a boost, but we expect him to have a role carved out regardless of the health of Egbuka or anybody else. If anything, Godwin missing time would be more beneficial for Egbuka than vice versa. Nonetheless, even if we learned that Egbuka was going to miss some time in the regular season, it would have a minimal impact on how we view Godwin.
