Fantasy Basketball Impact: Stephen Curry Sets Goal To Play On Sunday vs. Rockets

In this story:
Guard for the Golden State Warriors, Stephen Curry, may have taken a big step toward returning to play for the Warriors. He recently was playing in a 5-on-5 full-contact scrimmage, and seemingly looked good. While this is a good sign, there is still uncertainty in the air regarding a timeline for his return. There has been a recent positive development, though, with Curry announcing that he set a goal to return to play this week.
Curry has been out for over 25 games for the Warriors with a lingering knee injury. It is a combination of bone bruising and patellofemoral syndrome.
Latest Injury News: Stephen Curry
Curry, following participation in the scrimmage, said he felt great. He did say that with the injury he has, it is unpredictable. As of now, regarding when Curry will return, it could be a waiting game for the next few days. The team, while Curry rests, will wait and then evaluate how his knee reacts and determine what to do next from there. Though it seems that his knee may have reacted well, as Curry has announced a goal to return to play on Sunday, April 5, against the Houston Rockets.

If Curry is to move forward and return to action, his set goal for Sunday, here is the fantasy impact of his potential return.
Potential Stephen Curry Return: Fantasy Impact
Curry, in his 17th season in the NBA, while he has been available, has provided elite-level production. Through the 39 games he has played, he has averaged 27.2 PPG, 3.5 RPG, and 4.8 APG. Multiple players have stepped up to try to fill the statistical void he left in his absence. When he comes back, those players' production on the court should immediately see a drop.
Brandin Podziemski

Wing for the Warriors, Brandin Podziemski may have seen the biggest rise in fantasy stock on the Warriors while Curry has been out. He has especially been scoring at a high-level of late. In his last four games, he is averaging 21.8 PPG, 5.0 APG, and 7.8 RPG. These numbers should tick back down to possibly what he was averaging in November when Curry was mostly available.
In November Podziemski was averaging 12.6 PPG, 3.1 APG, and 4.5 RPG.
Gui Santos

Forward for the Warriors, Gui Santos' stats have also been notably above his season averages while Curry has been out. In March, he averaged 15.9 PPG, 4.1 APG, and 5.9 RPG. He has especially been scoring the ball well, too. In his last three games, he dropped 27 and 31 points in two of the contests. These numbers will go back down for Santos like Podziemski once Curry comes back, but he could still see meaningful production and play above his average DFS price with wing Moses Moody being out for the season.
Moody suffered a season-ending injury on March 23 in a game against the Dallas Mavericks in overtime. He had to be helped out on a cart, and the injury was later revealed to be a torn left patellar tendon. This season, Moody averaged 12.1 PPG, 3.3 RPG, and 1.6 APG.
