JK Dobbins Injury Update: Dobbins Won't Impact RJ Harvey's Fantasy Value, But He Could Impact Jonah Coleman

Last week, Dobbins guaranteed that he'd be out on the field for all 17 games this season. That's a bold statement being that he's never played a full season, and in six NFL seasons, he has played in 47 games while missing 54 games.

Yesterday, it seemed disaster may have struck when he was forced from practice with a soft-tissue injury. The coaching staff insisted they were just being cautious, but we have heard that story before. We got some great news today, though: Dobbins is back on the practice field. We don't yet know the full extent of what he's doing in practice, but it does not look like this injury is anything serious at all or anything that will cause him to miss any time.
J.K. Dobbins all smiles back on the field already 😃

Fantasy Impact
RB JK Dobbins, Denver Broncos
When healthy, which will be all 17 games if Dobbins takes pinky promises as seriously as my daughter, he is going to be the starter in Denver this season. RJ Harvey is not a threat to Dobbins in any way. Granted, Harvey will have a role in the offense, but it's not going to impact Dobbins. With that said, we also don't believe that Dobbins missing time would benefit Harvey nearly as much as many might think it will.
The bottom line is, Harvey just isn't a very good between-the-tackles runner, and is going to be limited to a pass-catching role. Dobbins will be the Week 1 starter in Denver this season.
RB Jonah Coleman, Denver Broncos
Coleman will enter the season as the RB3 in Denver, but is also the true handcuff for Dobbins. If Dobbins does go down, it will be Coleman who steps into his role. Where that could get interesting is that Coleman is also a better pass-catcher than Dobbins. Which means Dobbins getting hurt could actually be the worst-case scenario for Harvey owners. If you are looking to handcuff Dobbins, this is your guy.
RB RJ Harvey, Denver Broncos
Harvey is going to carve out a role in the offense, but it's going to be a small one. He will certainly have his boom games, but there will be a lot more bust weeks. Dobbins' health isn't a major factor for Harvey, because the Broncos drafted Coleman in the 2026 NFL Draft. Coleman is much better suited for the starting job and was a better prospect coming out of college. The Broncos overdrafted Harvey and made a bad pick. He'll never be more than an unpredictable flex option for your fantasy team.
