2 Anthony Richardson Landing Spots That Could Revive His Fantasy Football Value

A change of scenery could be exactly what the former top-five pick needs.

More fuel has been added to the fire.

Former Colts draft selection Anthony Richardson requested a trade from the franchise back in February, yet is still waiting for his wish to be granted. Now, with the 2026 season approaching at light speed, the clock continues to tick in Indianapolis. Richardson is expected to start Thursday in preseason action, and this very well could be his final opportunity to prove his value at the professional level.

With his future in Indianapolis hanging in the balance, here are two squads that could greatly help Anthony Richardson’s fantasy profile.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers are one Aaron Rodgers injury away from having yet another lost season. A swing on Richardson, however, could keep them afloat.

Entering this season, Rodgers will be 42 years old. And while every longtime football fan hopes that he’ll stay healthy for his last ride, that possibility is far from a guarantee. Thus, it makes perfect sense for them to add Richardson to a squad that could use his services both now and for the foreseeable future.

In terms of fantasy production, Pittsburgh could provide a perfect environment to resurrect his value. His rushing ability is his biggest strength, and fortunately for him, the Steelers hold one of the league’s strongest offensive lines. Pittsburgh held the eighth-best unit across the NFL last season according to Pro Football Focus, which would give Richardson plenty of opportunities to make plays with his legs.

Furthermore, that strong offensive line play would also give him more time in the pocket, potentially helping reignite his passing game. And, with weapons such as Michael Pittman Jr. and DK Metcalf, he’d have a stellar supporting cast alongside him.

Richardson’s fantasy value could fly if he finds himself in black and yellow.

Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons still remain unsure as to whether Michael Penix Jr. or Tua Tagovailoa will start for the franchise come Week 1. But what if neither ends up being the answer?

Penix’s 2025 campaign was cut short as a result of an ACL tear, and he is still continuing to work his way back to full health. Meanwhile, Tagovailoa enters Atlanta with plenty of questions of his own after an inconsistent stretch in Miami. Furthermore, one more concussion could put his playing career up in the air entirely. If neither can find the stability that the Falcons need, Atlanta could be forced to look in Richardson’s direction.

While Atlanta does not have the offensive line that Pittsburgh can provide, they do have substantially better weapons that could help him in both facets of his game. Drake London and Bijan Robinson would immediately give him two elite playmakers to lean on, inevitably creating tons of opportunities for him to make plays through the air. And since his rushing ability is a threat in and of itself, defenses could be forced to guard every inch of the field. His fantasy production, as a result, would boom.

If the cards fall correctly, Atlanta could give Richardson the supporting cast needed to finally turn his raw physicality into concentrated fantasy production.
