Fantasy Impact: Bulls Waive Jaden Ivey Nearly 2 Months After Trading For Him

In this story:
The Chicago Bulls made a move that garnered national media attention. They released guard Jaden Ivey for conduct detrimental to the team. The Bulls acquired Ivey from the team that drafted him in the first round of the 2022 NBA Draft, the Detroit Pistons. The deal was a three-team deal between the Bulls, Pistons, and Minnesota Timberwolves. It took place just short of two months ago on Feb.3.
Chicago Bulls Fantasy Impact From Waiving Jayden Ivey
Ivey’s last year and a half in the NBA has been a downward trajectory in terms of his play in his young NBA career. Back in the 2024-2025 season in January, he suffered a season-ending injury in the form of a broken left fibula. Before the injury, his game was trending in an upward direction along with the rest of the Pistons' young core. He averaged 17.6 PPG, 4.1 RPG, 4.0 APG, and was shooting 40.9% from distance–all career high marks. Returning this season, his game has still had bright spots, but not near the same type he had in the 2024-2025 season.
This season, he has averaged 8.5 PPG, 2.5 RPG, and 1.8 APG.
He played just four games with the Bulls before being shut down for a season-ending injury to his knee. In those four outings, he had solid production, averaging 11.5 PPG while shooting 38.1 % from three. It is hard to judge what his production would look like next season after recovering from surgery, but with what he has done this season, him being waived should slightly boost the stock, fantasy-wise, for a couple of Bulls players the remainder of this season and possibly next.
Tre Jones

A guard on the Bulls whose production without Ivey could be notable next season and the remainder of this season is Tre Jones. The guard in March has been putting up big numbers that, at his average price tag in DFS, could be worth inserting him in lineups. In the month, he is averaging 17.2 PPG, 5.0 APG, and 3.9 RPG. In his last three games, he has been scoring the ball a notably high amount, averaging 21 PPG.
Collin Sexton

Another guard for the Bulls who could put up some big numbers and play above his average DFS salary for the remainder of the season is Collin Sexton. Sexton was acquired by the Bulls this season in a midseason trade with the Charlotte Hornets. Since arriving in Chicago, his numbers have been up and down, but similarly to Jones in March, he is statistically having his best month of the season.
This month, Sexton is averaging 21.1 PPG, 3.0 APG, and 2.0 RPG. Also, this production could be somewhat sustainable for the 2026-2027 season. In just two out of the 11 games Sexton has played in March, he has come off the bench. It seems he could realistically play the role of the bench bucket getter for Chicago next season, regardless of the moves they make in free agency and the draft.
