Fantasy Football ADP Draft Debate: De'Von Achane Vs Chase Brown

When you are picking early in the second round, right around that Round 1/Round 2 turn, you'll have some tough decisions to make. If you are on the clock targeting a running back, you may be forced to choose between Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane and Cincinnati Bengals running back Chase Brown.
Both are great backs, and you can make a strong case for both, but which one should you be pulling the trigger on? We will dive into it in the fantasy football ADP debate.
RB De'Von Achane, Miami Dolphins
The Case For De'Von Achane
Achane is the clear upside option here. There is a real chance he is both the leading rusher and leading receiver on the Dolphins this season. With Malik Willis in the backfield with him, it could make Achane nearly impossible to stop.
He has a clear advantage when it comes to explosiveness and big-play ability. Every time Achane touches the ball, he's a threat to take it to the house. Miami can also find more creative ways to get him the ball, being that he's the more versatile back.
The Case Against De'Von Achane
The biggest question surrounding Achane is the fact that he plays for the Dolphins, who are projected to have one of the worst offenses in the NFL and finish with one of the worst records in the NFL. There are concerns with how many points they can score, if they can sustain drives, and if the team will be running the ball much in the second half of games.
RB Chase Brown, Cincinnati Bengals
The Case For Chase Brown
When Joe Burrow is healthy, Brown has consistently been one of the best fantasy running backs in the league. Being in the Bengals offense, he's a much safer option than Achane. His floor is much higher.
We know that Brown should be the engine of one of the league's top offenses who should allow him plenty of touchdown opportunities this season. He is also a serviceable pass-catcher in his own right.
The Case Against Chase Brown
Outside of Burrow's now extensive injury history, there isn't much not to like about Brown; however, he's just not as dynamic or talented as Achane. That's not a knock on him; not many running backs are. While Brown has a much safer floor, he also has a much lower ceiling.
Verdict
We are going with Achane here. Scared money don't make money. Give me the guy who can rush for 1,000 yards and catch 100 passes. As we said, there isn't much not to like about Brown; we just like Achane better.
