Enes Kanter Freedom’s Exchange With Natasha Cloud Goes Exactly as Expected

Former NBA basketball player turned human rights activist Enes Kanter Freedom was sitting courtside for the Chicago Sky's game against the Indiana Fever on Sunday.

Kanter Freedom is an extremely polarizing figure, especially within the women's basketball community, because of everything he's doing regarding transgender participation in the sport.

Therefore, it was expected that something would come from his appearance. And that's exactly what happened when Chicago Sky guard Natasha Cloud and Kanter Freedom (who was wearing a shirt that defined "woman" as "adult human male" had a verbal altercation at one point in the game.

Natasha Cloud made a basket, then immediately went over to Kanter Freedom and began yelling at him. Kanter Freedom stood up, spread his arms, and began jawing back at Cloud.

Ultimately, Cloud was escorted away by her teammates and Kanter was escorted away from his seat by security.

Natasha Cloud has always been one of the league's most outspoken players and is sharply opposed to what Kanter Freedom is trying to do. While there's no way of knowing what she said to the former NBA player, it was clear that a lot of emotion was involved.

What Enes Kanter Freedom is Doing With WNBA

Enes Kanter Freedom officially declared for the 2027 WNBA Draft in what's a stunt to essentially mock the league's lack of clear protocol regarding exactly who can compete.

While the WNBA's collective bargaining agreement states that only women are allowed to compete in the league, there isn't a direct framing of what that exactly means, which has raised the question about whether biological males who claim they identify as a woman can play in the league.

Kanter Freedom knows that he'll never be allowed to play in the WNBA, and many feel like he's taking advantage of the entire situation for self promotion and to keep his name relevant. But this is a serious topic right now that many people feel strongly about, which is why Kanter Freedom going to Sunday's Fever vs. Sky game and sitting courtside was another blatant act of provocation.

So it's not a surprise that Natasha Cloud chose to call Kanter Freedom out when she saw the opportunity, given her willingness to speak her mind. There probably aren't many players in the league who would have done the same thing, especially in the middle of a game.

And while this might have been exactly what Kanter wanted, whatever piece of her mind Cloud provided is surely something she thought he sorely needed to hear.
