Heat forward James Jones: Retirement is 'most definitely' on the table

Miami Heat forward James Jones told Shandel Richardson of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel that he is "most definitely" thinking about retiring after the season. Jones is active with the Players Association and says he has been going nonstop for the past 24 months between negotiating a new CBA last fall and rehabbing an injury the previous summer.

“Mentally and physically, it’s taken a toll on not just on me, but for my family,” Jones said. “At some point, you know the game comes to an end. You see the writing on the wall. You try to prolong it as long as possible. Like anything I’ve ever done, I want to walk away from my challenges rather than my challenges push me aside.”

Jones, 31, won the Three-Point Shootout at All-Star Weekend last season, but has never averaged double figures, and he played only 13.1 minutes per game this season (down to 8.8 in the playoffs).
