The Minnesota Vikings are going to make sure that Adrian Peterson is in top shape when the regular season starts. Peterson joined his teammates in pads on Wednesday, but head coach Leslie Frazier put strict rules on the defense on how to handle Peterson. If a player touches Peterson they are going to get cut, reports The Minneapolis Star-Tribune.

"The rules are simple," safety Jamarca Sanford told the paper. "Do not touch 28. If you touch him, you're cut."

"Now we have to adhere to it," Frazier said. "But one of the things they told me was, 'Coach, you know how he runs. What about protecting us?'"

Peterson is coming off knee surgery in the offseason and was just released from the physically unable to perform list.

"Initially, I kind of expected to get hit or bumped or something. ... I'm still going to lower my shoulder," Peterson said. "So those guys are probably going to get tired of touching off and tired of me putting my shoulder into them. They'll end up firing back."
