New Orleans Saints offensive line coach Aaron Kromer will serve as the Saints head coach while assistant head coach/linebackers coach Joe Vitt is suspended, reports Profootballtalk.com.

Vitt will serve a six-game suspension for his role in the Saints’ bounty program once the regular season starts.

"He is very familiar with our team and with the methods we have been successful with. He will do a great job," Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said of Kromer.

Kromer has been with the Saints since 2008, previously serving as their running backs coach. Offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael and defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo were also in the running to serve as the interim head coach.

Head coach Sean Payton was suspended by the NFL for the entire year for his role in the bounty scandal.
