Packers announce multi-year contract extension with Aaron Rodgers

Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations for the Green Bay Packers announced Friday afternoon the team has signed a contract extension with starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Rodgers was drafted by the Packers in the first round of the 2005 draft at No. 24. In his first five seasons as a starter (2008-2012), Rodgers posted 21,332 passing yards, the most by a starting quarterback in his first five seasons in NFL history.

Rodgers has collected several NFL records, including No. 1 in NFL history with a career passer rating of 104.9 (min. 1,500 attempts). He has completed 1,752 of 2,665 passes for 21,661 yards, 171 touchdowns with 46 interceptions during his career. He also led the Packers to a Super Bowl XLV victory.

He is an excellent teammate and pushes himself and others to be the very best. We are happy to reach an agreement to extend his career with the Packers."

The new contract is reportedly for five years and $110 million.
