New York Giants safety Antrel Rolle was carted off the practice field Monday with what head coach Tom Coughlin said is an ankle injury.

Rolle will undergo an MRI to determine the severity of the injury.

"Hopefully it's an ankle and he's coming right back," Coughlin said, per ESPNNewYork.

Rolle hasn't missed a start in three years with the Giants, dating back to the 2010 season. He picked off two passes last season, forced and recovered a fumble and notched 71 total tackles.

Seven different players started in the secondary for the Giants last season as the team gave up 28 plays of 30-plus yards, second most in the NFL.
