Bucs running back Doug Martin out for Thursday's game vs. Panthers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin was ruled out for Thursday's game against the Carolina Panthers, the team announced.

Martin has not practiced all week after injuring his shoulder in Sunday's 31-23 loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

Initial reports said that Martin had torn his labrum and would be out for the remainder of the year.

The Bucs will now rely on Brian Leonard and Mike James to pick up the slack at the running back position.

Martin has 456 rushing yards this season, but is only averaging 3.6 yards a carry and has scored only one touchdown. Martin was asked Tuesday if his shoulder injury was season-ending.

"No," Martin said. "Right now, I'm doing treatment on it with the trainers and taking it day by day and seeing how it feels. It's definitely gotten better. And my range of motion has increased day to day."
