Browns wide receiver Davone Bess was arrested for assaulting an officer/firefighter Friday morning, according to CBS Miami.

Bess, 28, reportedly was taken into custody by police at Fort Lauderdale International Airport around 6:19 a.m. Friday. The arrest report -- via Cleveland.com -- alleges Bess "appeared to be under the influence of an unknown narcotic due to his irrational behavior."

He posted $100 bond and was released from the Broward County Jail, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office via Cleveland.com.

Bess came under scrutiny this week after posting a photo on his Twitter account with what appears to be marijuana.

The Browns said in a statement, via Cleveland.com: ”The team is aware of the photos and looking further into the situation and will deal with the matter internally.”

In that same Cleveland.com report, league spokesman Greg Aiello declined comment on any possible punishment for Bess.

Bess, who signed a four-year, $14.18 million contract with the Browns last offseason, finished the season on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list, reportedly while dealing with a family issue.
