Vladimir Guerrero to retire with Angels

Vladimir Guerrero was back in Anaheim tonight, but not just to throw out the first pitch in the Angels' home opener.

MLB.com's Alden Gonzalez is reporting that Los Angeles signed Guerrero to a one-day contract so that he can officially retire an Angel. Guerrero signed a five-year, $70 million contract with the Angels in January 2004. He won the American League MVP that first year and spent six of his 16 Major League seasons with the Angels, batting .319 with 173 home runs and 616 RBIs.

Guerrero had a career batting average of .318 with 449 homers, 181 stolen bases and a rocket for an arm that most base-runners wouldn't test when Guerrero patrolled right field.
