Authorities in Detroit plan to review a request for charges against Detroit Tigers pitcher Evan Reed after a sexual assault complaint.

Last month, the Associated Press and other outlets reported that Reed was facing a sexual assault complaint.  The alleged incident occurred on March 30 after Reed met an unidentified woman at a bar earlier that night.

The Wayne County prosecutor's office in Michigan announced Wednesday it has received a warrant request, but did not release the player's name. A charging decision is not expected this week.

The Detroit Free Press reported details of the case:

According to a source in an earlier Free Press report, a 45-year-old woman told police that she had met Reed at Fifth Avenue bar in Royal Oak. The source said the woman told police that she believes she was drugged, coming to in a Motor City Casino hotel room while being sexually assaulted by Reed. She reported the alleged assault to police the next day, the source said last month.

Reed is 0-1 with a 3.00 ERA in 16 games out of the Tigers bullpen this season.
