Rockies' Nolan Arenado leaves game early with fractured finger

Colorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado left the team's game against the Atlanta Braves early on Friday night after fracturing a finger while sliding headfirst into second base, according to Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post.

The play occurred in the second inning after Arenado hit his 17th double of the season to left field. The 23-year old was replaced by Charlie Culberson at third when the Rockies defense returned to the field in the bottom of the second inning.

The team later announced that the 2013 Gold Glove winner suffered a left mallet finger fracture.

Arenado is in his second season in the majors, and has yet to miss a game in 2014.
