Championship club ready to offer two-year deal to Sunderland man

Blackburn Rovers are offering Sunderland centre-back Danny Batth a two-year contract, says Alan Nixon.
Last weekend, Nixon revealed that Batth was a surprise transfer target for Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers.
It comes after Batth's impressive 2022/23 season which saw Sunderland fans vote him as their Player of the Year, but last week, Sunderland Nation exclusively revealed that Sunderland were ready to let some of their senior players go this summer - Batth included.
And now Nixon has revealed on his Patreon account this morning that Jon Dahl Tomasson's Blackburn Rovers are ready to offer Batth a two-year contract - the Sunderland man is out of contract in 2024.
Tony Mowbray has added two new centre-backs to his ranks this summer with Nectarios Triantis and Jenson Seelt both arriving, potentially opening the door for Batth to move to Ewood Park.
Should Sunderland keep Batth?
It would be very surprising if Sunderland sold Batth to a Championship rival in Blackburn Rovers.
Many would argue that he should be handed a new deal at the club, because at 32 years old he could be a very decent player for the Black Cats for a few more years yet.
But Sunderland have a philosophy and Batth is perhaps a bit too old for Sunderland to try and build a defence around him, so it looks more and more likely that he'll be on the move this summer.
Mowbray then might want to add another centre-back to his ranks with Bailey Wright having already left, but what the remainder of the summer transfer window holds for Sunderland remains to be seen.
