Sunderland are eyeing a move for Sevilla striker Musa Drammeh after sending scouts to watch him.

The 22-year-old is currently impressing for Sevilla’s B side but is pushing to be called into the first team squad.

He is out of contract in the summer and Sunderland are one of several clubs keeping close tabs on the Gambian.

Drammeh is 6’2” and able to play on both flanks as well as up front, where he is most comfortable.

Remarkably given that it’s now December, Sunderland are yet to have a striker score this season, despite signing four in the summer.

Three of those were permanent additions, and while Nazariy Rusyn, Luis Hemir and Eliezer Mayenda all retain the confidence of the club, they are looking to make another addition to their striker ranks.

Being able to get more from the strikers will also be a key task set for the new head coach, particularly given former boss Tony Mowbray’s public comments in which he claimed they were ‘not ready’ for the Championship.

Mowbray wanted to see an established and proven centre forward arrive at Sunderland, especially given the loss of Ross Stewart, but that is a lot easier said than done.

All the top goal-getters in the Championship last season, such as Chuba Akpom, Joel Piroe and Stewart all commanded fees in excess of £10million, and Sunderland are not ready to start making that kind of outlay yet.
