Jordan Willis sends heartfelt message to 'amazing' Sunderland after return to football

Jordan Willis has sent a heartfelt message to Sunderland and their supporters after he made his long-awaited return to football.
Willis left Sunderland in early January after a two-year battle with injury, joining League One side Wycombe Wanderers until the end of the season.
He made his debut from the bench in their win over Derby this weekend, which was his first game since rupturing his knee ligaments at Shrewsbury in February 2021.
It was incredible to see him on a football pitch again, and Willis took the time to acknowledge the role Sunderland played in getting him back there.
Addressing Sunderland fans on social media, Willis said: “Thank you for the last three and a half years!”
“Although the back end is shadowed with injury, the time I had at the club was amazing and I enjoyed every moment in a red and shite shirt.
“The support I received from my teammates, staff members and fans throughout my time on the sidelines has played such a part in me getting to this stage.
“I have made memories and friends that will stay with me for life.
“I Wish the club nothing but success in the future and hope you continue going in the right direction.”
