Sunderland have been linked with Zorya Lugansk attacker Nazariy Rusyn.

Reports coming out of Ukraine (via Roker Report) say that Sunderland have taken an interest in Zorya Lugansk's 24-year-old attacker Rusyn.

Last season, Rusyn scored 13 times and assisted six more in the Ukrainian top flight.

The former Dynamo Kyiv man has represented his country at U17, U18, U19, and U21 level, with 11 caps and seven goals for the U21 side.

He's capable of playing a number of roles in attack, including as a no.9 or on either flank, and he's under contract at Zorya until 2025.

Rusyn could yet join the growing list of players to have arrived on Wearside this summer, with Jobe Bellingham, Nectarios Triantis, Jenson Seelt, and Luis Hemir having all made the move this summer.

Hemir was on hand to score for the Black Cats over the weekend, where Tony Mowbray's side won both of their opening pre-season friendlies v South Shields and Gateshead respectively.

Rusyn to Sunderland?

It's a fairly random link and one that will need confirming by a more reputable local source. But it's another exciting link nonetheless.

Sunderland are making a good habit of poaching unknown names from Europe and making them into first-team players, with Hemir looking like the latest in that list.

Rusyn like everyone else who arrives from abroad would need time to adjust to the English game. But he'll arrive with a bit more experience than the likes of Hemir, with Rusyn having played in the Champions League as well as the Ukrainian top flight.

Sunderland's summer transfer window continues to impress and after making winning start to the pre-season, it looks like there's a very positive mood in the camp.
