Sunderland would be interested in a return for Amad Diallo in January, if he's made available for loan, reports claim.

Sunderland fans may still be dreaming of Diallo.

He scored 14 goals in the Championship last season and won over the hearts of Black Cats fans, who desperately wanted to see him return in the summer.

And it was a hectic summer where Diallo was concerned; there was a lot of uncertainty about whether or not he'd stay at Old Trafford, which he eventually did.

He featured in pre-season but injury has since kept him out of the 2023/24 campaign so far.

A recent report from iNews though has revealed that Sunderland have retained their interest in the 21-year-old and would be interested in a possible return in January.

Their report reads:

“Sunderland’s reputation for developing players has also opened up potential loan routes for the club.

“It is understood that the club have forged a good relationship with United and would be interested in Amad Diallo if he is made available for loan in January.”

Diallo to return to Sunderland?

With Sunderland in the running for top six, and with the club having got the best out of Diallo last season, the Stadium of Light may be the first place that United look to send Diallo.

The question remains whether or not they will send him out; given how poorly United are doing, Diallo may yet be given his chance when fit to return to the side.

For Sunderland though, especially with uncertainty surrounding Jack Clarke, Diallo could be the perfect January signing to get Sunderland over the promotion line this season.
