Sunderland midfielder plays tribute to 'immense' travelling support

Edouard Michut paid tribute to the ‘immense’ Sunderland fans after the win at in-form Norwich City.
Despite the game being live on Sky Sports and it being one of the longest journeys of the season, Sunderland we backed by a packed out away end at Carrow Road.
They certainly more than made themselves heard as well, and Michut cannot help but be impressed.
“The fans are always immense,” Michut told safc.com. “They always come and [the away end] is always full whenever we’re away. They are really really good.”
While the traveling Sunderland support rightly often take the praise, the fans have really showed up in their numbers at the Stadium of Light as well.
The current average attendance for the season is 38,847, which is more than 10,000 greater than the nearest rival Sheffield United.
That figure is actually better than nearly half of the clubs in the Premier League too and serves to highlight the sheer size of the club and the potential it is trying to maximise.
Sunderland will need that support again with two tough games coming in the next week when high-flying Sheff Utd and Luton Town come to Wearside.
Michut is, understandably, expecting two very tough games, but he sees little reason why Sunderland can’t expect to at least compete.
“We’ve got two tough games against the top six, so I think we have to play a little bit like we played here today. Really compact and together, and I think we can play well again.”
