Sunderland's chances of Amad Diallo return dealt blow with PL club lining up loan offer

West Ham are 'lining up a move' to sign Manchester United's Amad Diallo on loan this summer, reports The Northern Echo.
Diallo, 20, joined Sunderland on a season-long loan deal last summer. He eventually went on to feature 39 times in Championship fixtures for the Black Cats, scoring 14 goals and leaving as a cult hero among the Black Cats faithful.
He captured the hearts of Sunderland fans with his performances and stunning goals. But Sunderland's season ended in play-off heartbreak and the club's chances of re-signing Diallo then looked minimal.
But the Ivorian has given Sunderland fans hope of an unexpected return this summer, declaring his love for the club before reports emerged claiming that Diallo would be open to returning to Wearside on loan this summer.
Feyenoord are reportedly looking to beat Sunderland to the loan signing of Diallo this summer though, with The Northern Echo now revealing that West Ham are plotting a bid to sign the youngster on loan as well.
Their report says that Manchester United are 'set to receive offers for Amad to spend time in the Premier League' this summer, and that United boss Erik ten Hag might prefer for Diallo to find a temporary Premier League home for the 2023/24 campaign.
The same report then goes on to say that the Hammers are 'understood to be lining up a move' for Diallo to spend next season on loan at the club.
Diallo returning to Sunderland in time for the 2022/23 season has always seemed like a long shot. A loan move to a Premier League side or to a top flight European side looks like the next logical step for him and he doesn't seem short of offers.
But there'll always be a chance that he could return to the Stadium of Light, given how well he performed for Sunderland last season, so all hope is not lost.
