TUSCALOOSA, Ala.— Despite a number of weather-related challenges and accompanying schedule changes, the Alabama baseball team went unbeaten over the past week and earned another jump in the D1Baseball rankings.

The Crimson Tide (15-1) again moved up one spot, from 15 to 14, after beginning the season ranked 19th. This week, Alabama defeated Troy in its lone midweek outing and then swept the Lipscomb Bisons over the weekend in three games contested over the course of 27 hours.

In the first game against the Bisons on Saturday, the Crimson Tide scored a season-best 20 runs, enough to get a seven-run victory even though the pitching was far from its best. This came after Friday's game was initially rescheduled and then cancelled owing to inclement weather.

The second and third games featured Alabama scoring outputs of 10 runs apiece. The best Lipscomb managed after the first game was five.

Were it not for key errors, Troy might have beaten Alabama last Wednesday, instead dropping the matchup 8-7. The Trojans have had that particular story play out before, in Sewell-Thomas Stadium no less. Hypotheticals aside, the Crimson Tide's unbeaten home record remains intact going into conference play, which opens this weekend with a much-anticipated matchup against the Tennessee Volunteers.

One more nonconference game remains before that, when Alabama takes on Southern Miss in Hattiesburg. The Crimson Tide's last outing at Pete Taylor Park produced one of the 2022 team's one-run losses. The Golden Eagles are perennially one of the best mid-majors in the sport, but are in the first year without coach Scott Berry, who retired following a 2023 campaign which saw the program host a super regional after winning the Auburn Regional.
