Alabama Baseball's Friday Game vs. Lipscomb Rescheduled

The prospect of inclement weather Friday has resulted in the Alabama baseball game being moved up.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.— For the second time this week, the potential for severe weather has impacted the Alabama baseball schedule.

The No. 15 Crimson Tide's series-opening game against the Lipscomb Bisons, set for Friday, has been bumped up to an 11 a.m. CT start time. First pitch was initially slated for the evening, at 6 p.m.

Earlier in the week, Alabama's Tuesday game against in-state opponent Jacksonville State was postponed due to inclement weather, with a makeup game planned for and a date to be announced. The Crimson Tide (12-1) defeated Troy on Wednesday by an 8-7 margin.

Lipscomb previously handed the 2020 Alabama team the first loss of its season in March of that year. The one-run result would go down as the singular blemish on that squad's overall record, as the season was cancelled owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Bisons are coming off an appearance in the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

Alabama's victory over Troy was a narrow rebound from its first loss of this season, an extra-innings defeat at the hands of No. 20 Dallas Baptist last Sunday. This weekend's series features another change in the pitching rotation. Greg Farone, who has started the last two Sunday games, is now penciled in for his first Saturday start. Junior right-hander Ben Hess, who dazzled in his first 2024 start against a ranked team while facing Indiana last weekend, is set to go on Friday morning.

Sunday's starting pitchers are to be announced. Taking the hill for Lipscomb against Hess will be graduate student Alex Brewer. All of the games in the series, including Friday's rescheduled contest, can be seen on SEC Network+.
