TUSCALOOSA, Ala.- The bats were hot on Saturday as the No. 15 Alabama Crimson Tide baseball team swept its doubleheader against the Lipscomb Bisons, 20-13 in Game 1 and 10-1 in Game 2.

In Game 1, the Crimson Tide recorded 14 hits including five home runs, drew 12 walks, were hit by three pitches and struck out six times in 37 at-bats with all but one run coming in the second half of the game. Eight of Alabama’s nine starters had at least one hit and five recorded multiple hits. The game also marked the most runs scored in a single game this season.

In Game 2, the story was the same except the offense started rolling from the get-go rather than the second half. In 32 at-bats, the team recorded 13 hits including four doubles, drew ten walks, were hit by two pitches, and struck out seven times.

So far this year, Alabama has scored double digit runs in nine of its 15 games played.

Alabama baseball head coach Rob Vaughn spoke on the Crimson Tide’s powerful offense after the doubleheader.

“That’s what you have to have. This is gonna be my first go around in this league, but watching, that’s what you see, is you just see guys up and down the lineup that are dangerous, up and down the lineup jump start things and that’s part of why if you look at our lineup, the reason Gage and TJ have so many RBIs is because the bottom half of the lineup has been so good,” said Vaughn. “It seems like every day you’ve got kind of a different guy that went out and was elite that day. I think if we’re gonna do what this team is capable of doing and playing hopefully deep into June and doing some special things, that’s what it’s gonna take.”
