The TCU Horned Frogs are in a bit of a slump.

TCU Team Huddle

After starting the season 13-0, the team has gone 2-5 in the last ten days and has fallen to last in the conference standings. A series loss to Kansas and then being swept at home by the Sooners has the Frogs reeling. The lone bright spot has been that the Frogs have yet to drop a mid-week game, and they added an impressive win to their resume after taking down DBU on the road last Tuesday.

This week, the Horned Frogs take on a struggling UTA team that is only 7-13 on the season. The Mavericks have played a demanding mid-week schedule and are yet to come away with a win in their contests.

UTA will be led by right fielder Tyson Pointers, who leads the team with a .313 batting average on the season and finds himself second in RBIs with 11. On the pitching side of things, UTA has typically gone with a bullpen-style game, throwing hodge pods of arms out there. Expect to see the likes of Caden Noah, Austin Wallace, and Nicholas Robb, who all have an ERA under 5, to be featured on the mound.

The starter has yet to be officially announced for the Frogs, but the typical mid-week starter is the southpaw transfer from West Virginia, Ben Hampton. Hampton comes into the game with a 5.73 ERA in 11 innings pitched on the season and looks to go deeper than five innings for the first time this season.

Logan Maxwell will be the main threat in the batter's box for TCU, carrying an average of .400 into this matchup. Before Sunday's game, Maxwell had a 19-game hitting streak that returned to last season's College World Series.

The game will occur at 6 p.m. at Lupton Stadium in Fort Worth, Texas.
