The No. 2 TCU men's tennis team (9-0) will play in the ITA Indoor National Championship match on Monday. A win on Monday would mark the third consecutive year that the Horned Frogs have won the national championship, as they won the title in 2022 and 2023.

Jake Fearnley

TCU's Jake Fearnley won his singles match in straight sets, which helped advance the Horned Frogs to their third consecutive ITA Indoor National Championship match.

TCU advanced to the finals after another come-from-behind win on Sunday when they defeated the No. 6 seed Wake Forest Demon Deacons 4-2.

With the win, TCU has won 34 consecutive indoor matches and 12 straight at Indoor Nationals. The Horned Frogs improved to 18-8 all-time in the ITA National Championships and 16-4 in the tournament since 2019. TCU has defeated six straight ranked foes in 2024.

The Frogs will face No. 1 Ohio State on Monday, February 19, at 11 a.m. CST. The Horned Frogs are aiming to become just the third program to win three consecutive indoor national titles alongside Virginia (2008-2011) and Stanford (1973-1976). TCU is also the first team to reach the ITA Indoor National Championships final in three straight years since USC did so from 2013-2015.

The tussle with Ohio State (12-0) marks the third meeting in as many seasons between the two storied programs, all of which have come with championship implications. TCU ousted the top-seeded Buckeyes 4-3 in the semifinals of the 2022 ITA Indoor National Championships en route to its first-ever national title. Ohio State defeated TCU 4-0 in the final four of the 2023 NCAA Championships.

"The guys got it done," said head David Roditi. "Unbelievable. Losing in doubles, then to come back and win four matches there shows great resilience again. I am so proud of these guys. They are in the finals tomorrow against a tough Ohio State team. Those guys looked really good, but we are ready for another battle. Beautiful facility here at Columbia University. Go Frogs!"

Doubles Play – Wake Forest Won

For the second straight day, and only the third time this season, TCU lost the doubles point.

  • On Court Three, the No. 20 duo of Duncan Chan and Lui Maxted won their set 6-3, giving the Frogs an early edge.
  • On Court One, the No. 8 duo of Sebastian Gorzny and Pedro Vives fell 3-6, leaving the doubles point to be determined on Court Two.
  • On Court Two, Jake Fearnley and Jack Pinnington had an early 3-1 lead but were broken twice and lost their set 4-6.

Singles Play – TCU won 4-1

Once again, TCU's prowess on the singles courts proved too much for yet another opponent.

  • TCU won five of the six first sets, giving them an early advantage.
  • No. 59 Maxted tied the dual at 1-1 after winning his match 6-1, 6-2 on Court Five.
  • The Frogs took a brief 2-1 lead in the dual after No. 62 Fearnley, on Court One won his match in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.
  • Wake Forest tied it 2-2 after Tomas Jirousek lost his match 1-6, 2-6 on Court Six.
  • With three matches still being played, each team would need to win two of those to move to the championship round.
  • No. 4 Pinnington, on Court Two, won his match 7-5, 6-2.
  • No. 39 Gorzny clinched the dual for TCU with a 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) straight-set win on Court Four.
  • No. 20 Vives was ahead in his set on Court Three 6-4, 5-3 when the dual was clinched.

Next up: The Horned Frogs will play No. 1 Ohio State on Monday at 11 a.m. CST in the ITA Indoor National Championship match.
