Watch: FCS James Madison beats SMU on late touchdown pass

FCS James Madison completed a comeback victory over SMU with a touchdown pass in the game’s final minute and defeated the Mustangs 48–45. 

JMU was led by redshirt senior quarterback Vad Lee, a transfer from Georgia Tech. Lee passed for 289 yards with three touchdowns and three interceptions and also ran for 276 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries. 

Lee led the Dukes on a 75-yard game-winning touchdown drive in the final two minutes, culminating in a 17-yard touchdown pass to sophomore John Miller

JMU is now 4–0 on the season and entered the game ranked ninth in the FCS coaches’ poll. SMU fell to 1–3 in its first season under head coach Chad Morris. The Mustangs open conference play next week against ECU.
