Auburn recorded $13.6 million in losses during 2014 fiscal year
Auburn's athletic department lost more than $13.6 million during the 2014 fiscal year, according to a report on the department's finances from the Montgomery Advertiser.
Football was the school's only sport to generate a net profit, which totaled $33,180,642, the report says.
The program produced $83,326,956 in revenue and incurred $50,146,314 in expenses, according to the report.
During the 2014 fiscal year, Auburn football delivered a successful 2013 season that included an appearance in the BCS national championship game and a 12-2 record.
According to a USA Today database, coach Gus Malzahn, who just completed his second season in charge of the Tigers, ranked fifth among SEC coaches with a $3.85 million salary in 2014.
New defensive coordinator Will Muschamp, who formerly coached at Florida, reportedly is expected earn more than $1.6 million per year, making him the nation's highest-paid assistant.
Auburn lost $18,516,130 in non-program specific activities and $23,402,247 from non-revenue sports, which generated $1,186,305 in revenue, according to the report.
