Rutgers reinstates WR Leonte Carroo after assault charges dropped
Rutgers receiver Leonte Carroo has been reinstated by the team after the assault charges against him were dropped.
The school announced the move Wednesday. Head coach Kyle Flood brought back the suspended receiver after he “agreed to the conditions of his reinstatement” and “accept[ed] the responsibility that comes with his return to the team.”
Carroo had assault charges dropped Tuesday after the alleged victim opted not to pursue the case. Authorities said Carroo, a senior and team captain, slammed a woman to a concrete surface during an Sept. 12 altercation outside the Rutgers team facility. He was reportedly intervening between two women he had been romantically involved with.
The alleged victim in that incident worked for Rutgers football as a recruiting ambassador. Her father told NJ.com on Sept. 22 that his daughter did not provoke the dispute and that she had quit her job with the athletic department. Carroo will have to attend six hours of anger management sessions.

Carroo has missed two games due to his suspension, during which Rutgers has gone 1–1.
Head coach Kyle Flood has one game remaining on a university-issued suspension for impermissible contact with a faculty member, and continues to lead the team on non-game days.
Carroo should return to the field when Rutgers (2–2) takes on No. 4 Michigan State (5–0) Saturday night at home.
