We've Seen Pittman Have to Juggle Coaching Staff This Late Before

Less than two weeks before spring practice, we should know not to assume all is settled

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Everyone these days is assuming everything is settled at least for spring practice. Considering we've seen coaches leave and be hired as well as players, it may still be a little early to assume anything. That's exactly where we are in these days of college athletics.

It's doubtful we'll see a max exodus of the biggest names in college football leaving now, but don't be surprised if staffs still get juggled. Whether anybody on Arkansas' staff or roster head out is anybody's guess. But it has happened before.

Sam Pittman's probably not going to be shoving anybody out the door. He doesn't like all this moving and juggling around during the windows, much less now. While all that's true it doesn't mean it won't happen because it's happened before.

Just think back and it doesn't take long to recall position coaches shuffling around to other teams after spring practice or even into the summer. It has to create a world of chaos for the head coaches and coordinators. Plans are made with position coaches already in place and a change there can have serious implications.

Decisions were made to join the Hogs often based on the position coach. Let him leave for a better position likely would mean the roster of players changing after spring practice, too. Again, it's the world we live in around college athletics.

Don't think all of this is dreaming up something. Many have seen the lists of potential candidates for various jobs around college football right now. Some Razorback assistants are on that list, everywhere from the "also mentioned" to top of the list. We're not going to start naming people or schools because that's exhausting.

Just don't be surprised to see some moving around on Pittman's staff and roster before fall practices start in August. Assuming anything or speculating during spring practice is often based on hope. We've seen before that can go away quickly. The only problem is that it can be hard to replace with someone that generates hope quickly.
