PARDISE ISLAND, Bahamas – A bad day of basketball turned as bad as it can possibly be for the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Trailing North Carolina, 85-72, with just over a minute left, guard Tramon Mark, who was having a career day with 34 points drove down the lay and went up for a lay-up against the much larger Aermando Bacot. While in the air, he twisted awkwardly and appeared to anticipate contact. However, as Bacot moved backward on defense, the contact never came.

What resulted was an out of control Mark, legs flailing awkwardly through the air. This resulted in him landing with his full weight in an awkward position on his hip as his back was still twisting. Immediately, he went flat on his back as play continued around him.

At one point Mark tried to get up, but couldn't. Musselman and the Razorback training staff got to him quickly, and not long afterward a stretcher and backboard were brought out. Trainers rubbed up and down his left leg, presumably testing whether he could feel.

He has now been carted off the court. What was once a frustrating game for fans that had only been helped by Mark's quality play has now turned into a much bigger, more relevant concern.

I won't know anything really until I get word from Doc, so I don't have any real update on his health," Musselman said. "But he played phenomenal basketball. His offensive efficiency tonight was really good."

When asked for more specific information on the injury, Musselman chose to be as vague as possible without ignoring the question.

I"'d rather not get into too much," Musselman said. "It's his back, not his neck or head, but it's his back."

A few hours later, the Arkansas Athletics communications department had this release.

"Arkansas junior Tramon Mark has been released from a local hospital. He had an MRI which showed no significant injury to his back and he will be allowed to travel back to Fayetteville with the team tomorrow morning (Nov. 25)."
