LEXINGTON, Ky. — Arkansas left themselves too much to do after only scoring 14 points in the first half in an ugly game. The Razorbacks could not overcome a 12-point halftime deficit en route to a 73- 63 loss to open SEC play.

Both teams played recklessly with 18 turnovers apiece. The Hogs could not buy a shot in the first half shooting 16.1% from the floor including 0-for-13 from beyond the arc. The Razorbacks only scored 8 points in the first quarter, but somehow found themselves with a two-point lead after 10 minutes.

The Razorbacks did little with its good fortune. The Hogs followed with just 6 points in the second quarter as Kentucky went on a 12-0 run thanks to their leading scorer Ajae Petty, who finished the night with 22 points and 19 rebounds.

After missing its first 16 shots from the three-point line and looking confused on offense, the Hogs finally found life in the third quarter. Three straight triples including two from Carly Keats got Arkansas right back into the game.

With Taliah Scott struggling to find her shot Samara Spencer took over as the main scorer with 12 of her 25 points in the third quarter as both offenses sprung to life. Two made free throws gave Arkansas a one-point lead with 9 seconds left in the quarter.

Arkansas went cold again in the fourth as Petty took over the game and made her last four shots from the field as the Hogs finished the game just 33% from the field.

The Razorbacks now play Georgia at 1 p.m. on Sunday. The game willl be broadcast on the SEC Network and fuboTV.
