A look at the top 2024 Auburn offensive line recruiting targets

Auburn tries to strengthen the depth and stature of its offensive line.

Auburn’s coaching staff has already made some strong moves, to their fan's delight, in the 2024 recruiting sequence. They obviously cannot rest on their laurels if they want to return to SEC dominance. So, before the dominos start to fall after A-day, let's look at Auburn’s wish list as far as the offensive line at this stage in the cycle.

In no particular order:

Chase Malamala - Benjamin High School

A three-star tackle out of Benjamin High School, North Palm Beach, Florida, is a Mountain of a man coming in at six-foot-seven inches and 310 pounds. The son of a former NFL starting lineman, Malamala is continuing the family business and is turning heads going into his senior season. He has two Auburn visits already, the latest being March 20.

Auburn has some work to do here as Malamala seems to be just as interested in staying near home at Florida State as he is in coming to the plains. The last word on Malamala for now, he plans to give Auburn an official visit when the time comes. With his size, it will be interesting to watch how he progresses through one more year of high school ball.

Eagan Boyer - Hough High School

Another offensive tackle, rings the bell at six-foot-eight inches and 260 pounds. He hails from Hough High School in Cornelius, North Carolina, and also carries a three-star ranking. He has visited Auburn twice and while he was there commented about how impressed he was with how the practices were running.

Today he visited Penn State and has already been quoted about how impressed he was with that atmosphere as well. He is expected to make his choice in June. Auburn is in competition with North Carolina, Clemson, and now it appears Penn State for this commit.

Jac'Qawn McRoy - Clay-Chalkville High School

The third offensive tackle on this journey, lists out at a staggering 6-foot 8 inch 340 pounds. McRoy is a four-star athlete out of Clay-Chalkville High School just outside of Pinson, Alabama. If that sounds familiar, Bo Nix was a star out of Pinson Valley, which is turning into a bit of a hotbed for football in Alabama. He has NFL type size and the skills to match. McRoy is leaning towards staying in his backyard and coming to Auburn, but Kentucky and Arkansas are making strong plays towards this young man. In this writer’s estimation, this recruit would do himself a huge favor by picking an SEC location where the coach is willing to give him some one-on-one instruction if he wants to realize his full potential. Watching his highlights, the thing that leaps out the most is that he has really leaned on his size to the detriment of technique. Something Auburn’s O-line coach Jake Thonrton could definitely help him with.

Caleb Holmes - Creekside High School

The only interior lineman listed here, is a three- or four-star offensive guard, depending on the source, out of Creekside High School in Fairburn, Georgia. Holmes measures in at six-foot three inches and weighs 285 pounds. Watching film on this prospect, one would be surprised about how little attention he was getting. He moves extremely well, uses leverage better than most lineman coming out of high school and, well, for lack of a better term, the man just plays mean. He loves contact. Other schools have noticed this as well. Auburn was early on this recruit, and one hopes that plays a role in his decision after his senior year. Florida State, LSU, and Tennessee have already joined Auburn in making an offer to Holmes. It would be no surprise if every SEC school offered him a spot if he can put a good Senior year on film.

Any of these targets would be an encouraging “get” for an Auburn program that had fallen by the wayside for the past several years in offensive line recruiting. That being said, Hugh Freeze and his staff have really put a premium on flushing out a solid offensive line and are making huge gains in that process. In recent memory, there hasn’t been this type of action in offensive lineman for Auburn at this point in the cycle. These targets would be a massive leap forward into building the dynasty Auburn fans deserve.
