Top-Five 2027 Point Guard Announces Visit to Auburn

In this story:
The Auburn Tigers have not even tipped off their first game of the 2026-27 season, and yet Steven Pearl is already busy in the recruiting ranks for the following season. He’s not targeting small fish, either–on Thursday, Micah Gordon announced that he would be visiting the Plains as part of an eight-school list this season.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to take official visits and continue learning more about each program that has believed in me. I've already had the chance to visit Oklahoma State and Marquette, and both schools are still being strongly considered. pic.twitter.com/ZTXYXNAueV

Gordon will also be visiting VCU, Tennessee, Creighton, West Virginia, UCLA, Providence and UConn this fall, and he has already visited Oklahoma and Marquette. In a recent post, he shared that both of the latter programs are ‘still being strongly considered.’
The four-star is set to visit the Plains from September 18-20.
Gordon, a class of 2027 prospect, is a four-star point guard from SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio. A blue-chip prospect, Gordon is rated as the fifth-best point guard in his class, as and the second-best in-state prospect from his home state.
Needless to say, Gordon would be a big-time acquisition–even if he is a bit undersized, standing at just 5-foot-10–for the Tigers, who are at a bit of a loss at the point guard position beyond Tahaad Pettiford and Kevin Overton, both of whom could be spending their last collegiate season in basketball this year.
The Tigers may have a bit of an advantage in this recruitment, especially since the only SEC programs he is planning to visit are Auburn and Tennessee, both of whom have a rich basketball culture and recent winning ways that Gordon could add to.
Also, since this season is Kevin Overton’s last season (barring, of course, some eligibility madness), as well as potentially Tahaad Pettiford’s last collegiate season before entering the NBA Draft, the door will be open for new guards to take their place.
Already on the roster is Caleb Williams, the Tigers’ lone commit from the class of 2026, who has been earning significant minutes throughout the Tigers’ preseason matchups against KK Mega Superbet, which were played last week. Williams was also a four-star prospect when he committed to the Plains back in November.
Between Williams and Gordon, the Tigers could have another Pettiford/Overton duo on their hands, though, of course, the Tigers will have to land Gordon first. It is, after all, still quite early in his commitment, so though the Tigers will have plenty of time to sway him to the Plains, other programs will have plenty of time to sway him away.
