A quarterback will walk into Jordan-Hare Stadium next season that will scare Auburn fans

The Auburn Tigers need to be ready for the plays to come back to the Plains.

Last season, the Auburn Tigers lost to New Mexico State in Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Heading into this ball game, the Auburn Tigers were feeling great, coming off three straight wins over the Mississippi State Bulldogs, Vanderbilt Commodores, and Arkansas Razorbacks. The win over Arkansas was a big one, as many people thought the Tigers would head into Fayetteville and lose that game. Not only did Auburn win, but they won in blowout fashion, 48-10, thanks to an offensive explosion. Folks believed this game was a turning point for Payton Thorne and the Auburn offense, but that all changed next Saturday.

The New Mexico State Aggies came to Jordan-Hare Stadium and dominated the Tigers in every possible way. New Mexico State quarterback Diego Pavia had 201 passing yards to go with three touchdowns and 35 yards on the ground. Now Pavia and his head coach, Jerry Kill, have both moved on to Vanderbilt. Of course, the Vanderbilt Commodores will make the trip to Jordan-Hare Stadium next season. The Auburn Tigers need to be ready for this football game.

Coach Freeze had this to say after the loss to New Mexico State last season, "It’s a lesson in humility. Offensively, we could have run the ball, but we never had the chance, and that’s not an excuse, we had, what, 42 true offensive plays? As the game went on, it was obvious they were controlling the clock very well… and when we did get on schedule, we shot ourselves in the foot a little bit with a penalty… As good as the offensive line, defensive line, and special teams was at Arkansas, we were equally as bad in all three Saturday."

There is no doubt that a ton of preparation will go into this game against Vanderbilt next season, as Coach Freeze's biggest nemesis will be back.
