Hugh Freeze lands middle of the pack in 2023 SEC head coach rankings

Auburn football feels like it is back on the rise.

The Tigers have hammered the transfer portal since Hugh Freeze's arrival back in November, and after a positive spring Auburn heads into the offseason with hope and excitement.

According to 247Sports, Freeze is in the middle of the pack of SEC head coaches heading into the 2023 season, landing at No. 8 in their post-spring list.

"He's polarizing, sure, but Freeze's dismissal at Ole Miss had nothing to do with the results on the field," CBS Sports' Tom Forneli wrote. "Those were just fine. They continued in his four seasons at Liberty, and now he's back in the SEC."

According to article author Grant Hughes, Freeze ranks above Shane Beamer (South Carolina), Sam Pittman (Arkansas), Billy Napier (Florida), Eli Drinkwitz (Missouri), Clark Lea (Vanderbilt), and Zach Arnett (Mississippi State). Freeze lands at No. 26 nationally in CBS Sports' head coach rankings heading into 2023.

Saturday Down South ranked Hugh Freeze at No. 10 in their SEC head coach power rankings, ahead of Billy Napier, Eli Drinkwitz, Clark Lea, and Zach Arnett.
