Auburn hires top executive from LSU

The Auburn Tigers pulled one of LSU's top staffers away from Baton Rouge.

The Auburn Tigers made a huge move Wednesday morning.

Hugh Freeze is still in the process of bringing in the leadership that he wants for the Auburn football program.

On Wednesday, multiple reports state that Auburn has hired LSU's Will Redmond to become the general manager of Auburn football. Redmond is the reigning FootballScoop Director of Player Personnel of the Year and in a short amount of time is seen as one of the top personnel executives in the country.

Redmond's best work at LSU is when the Tigers had under 40 scholarship players on the roster at the start of the Brian Kelly era and helped build a roster that led to the addition of Jaylen Daniels and winning the SEC West in 2022.

"A Franklin, Tennessee, native, who climbed from sports information student-assistant at the University of Tennessee to deeply experienced personnel professional, Redmond's grandparents first met at Auburn, even before the school was known as Auburn University," John Brice of FootballScoop wrote in the report of Auburn hiring Redmond.

Redmond's ties to Auburn and vision of what Freeze is doing on the Plains made it make sense for the rising star in the industry.

Freeze had to focus a lot of his efforts on off-field duties during his first year at Auburn. With additions made this offseason, particularly bringing Redmond on as a general manager, Freeze should be able to focus more on game plans and winning games for 2024 and beyond.

Auburn's staff continues to evolve during the Freeze era on the Plains.
