Auburn 2025 defensive tackle commitment Jourdin Crawford

The Auburn Tigers 2025 recruiting class is gaining steam. It’s now at No. 11 in the Rivals recruiting rankings. A big reason why, figuratively and literally, would be the commitment of one of the nation’s top defenders.

Jourdin Crawford

Position: Defensive Tackle

Size: 6-foot-1

Weight: 305 Pounds

School: Birmingham (Ala.) Parker

Recruiting: In addition to Auburn, some of Crawford’s scholarship offers include Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Florida, Michigan, Oklahoma, Florida State, and Miami.

This is a huge pickup for Hugh Freeze, defensive line coach Jeremy Garrett, and the Tigers. Per Rivals, Parker is a 4-star prospect.

Frame: Crawford is what a nose guard is supposed to look like and play like. Thick midsection and powerful upper legs; he’s built for trench warfare. The way Crawford plays, he knows how he’s built, too.

Athleticism: Good lateral movement to avoid offensive linemen, and Crawford shows quick hands to help disengage from blocks. Changes directions well for a player that’s over 300 pounds and a junior in high school.

Power: This is Crawford’s money maker. He has stout hands at the point of attack; they help him play like a 2-gap nose guard at times. Another way to define his strength, Crawford possesses walk-back power, as in he places his hands on the chest of the offensive lineman and forces him back into the backfield.

Area to Work On: Just continue to redefine his body and become more flexible. If Crawford does those two things well, his chances of becoming a big-time player for the Tigers goes up exponentially.

Auburn Impact: You cannot teach size or body type. Crawford is the rare 1-technique or even zero-technique that is highly coveted within the SEC (think Bama/UGA nose guards) because he can take on double teams.

While not a plug and play starter, Crawford is the type of interior defensive lineman Auburn absolutely needs to compete with Alabama, LSU, Georgia and other top college football programs. He’s an excellent addition to the Auburn family.
